Heart-wrenching, I'm sure; however, not on a par with Last Kiss. When I suggested to fellow band members back in the day that we play the cover (J. Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers, 1964), they discussed throwing me out of the band. Later, Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam did their version and it was a hit all over again. A band member called me up and said I was both before and after my time.

I cringe at the lyrics to Last Date...
I agree that Last Kiss is probably the better of the two. I used to spin that 45 when I played a few parties in the mid-'80s.
