The deer huntress...

At one point she was within 20 feet of them...

Is that a State park? Sure looks like the buildings at Mineral Wells and Jacksboro. My sister fixed supper for me last night out at the lakehouse on the north side of the lake and on the way home we saw a huge buck. It was a special sight for sure.

I think it's #13 MWSP - I am taking the picture from just outside the restroom pavilion.

After the deer moved east from the grassy area, we walked into the woods past #15. Daughter tried to run after two or three, but came bounding back to me saying "I'm not chasing that one - it's a big buck - he might chase me back!"

On which lake does your sister have a lake house? On our way out to MW, we tracked the southern shore of LW from Mikus to 730. Near the west end, we walked out to some TP&W 'cages' for some kind of plant study. The water was probably 300-400' from its normal shoreline, and we picked up driftwood and mussel shells (no, I don't know what we're going to do with the bag full of shells we collected). There sure were a lot of boats in lifts hanging above dry, or nearly dry, dirt.

Daughter thinks it would be fun to go to the Pen Hollow crawl on Saturday - apparently a guide leads a group of 15 through the most remote fissures of the rock formation.

Dubya - My eyes weren't fully open when I read your comment - I had just reviewed a couple of Combat Kevin's comments and thought maybe he had a sister at Lake Weatherford. So the third paragraph of my above comment may not appear to make sense.

(Which could make it nearly indistinguishable from the rest of my blog...)

LOL...My mother and stepfather own a lakehouse on the north end of Lake Bridgeport in the old Blockers camp area. My sister owns the one next door to theirs. http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&tab=wl
Just to the left of the "A" on the map. You access it following 1810 west from chico 5 miles, left on 1745.
20 years ago, there wasn't anyone that lived out there. Actually I lived there in the early eighties for a short time. The only vehicle you saw drive by back then was a pumper checking wells a few times a week. Now there are $1 million plus homes everywhere and a constant flow of traffic all day and night.

Wow, had no idea that area had developed so much. Went fishing (put in at RAB) about 20 years ago with former FIL at a spot probably midway between SR² and the west end of the lake, no luck.

Also spent a few nights at SR² in the late '90s and earlier part of this millennium (though my preferred Scout Camp was Worth Ranch on the Brazos below PK).

Couple of years ago I saw a small lakeview A-frame cabin in Lake Bridgeport, selling for less than the cost of a new truck, would've made a fun weekend getaway for the kids, but I never looked into it. Did notice the monster houses between there and 380.
