I Think I'll Just Sit Here and Think

...that the world is a better place because Merle Haggard was in it.

I have several favorite Hag songs, but this is probably the one I like best:



We are poorer for the passing of the man from Bakersfield.  And we don't seem to be headed in a good direction.

As Henley put it:

Post, postmodern world
No authenticity, no sign of soul
The radio won't play George and Merle.¹

And that's a darn shame.

I saw Merle live a few times. My Dad had a drink with him at Bob Wills Days in Turkey, Texas.
I had a drink with him and George Jones at Billy Bob's when they bought the World's largest round of CC water back.

I don't think that counts as the same thing.

Mike u were there?! Holy smokes that is cool. I was just talking about that bit of trivia. It him 12,000 dollars and 40 gallons of CC were consumed.
